By Car: (approx 145 miles from HW)
M40 west to junction 3a M42. M42 to junction 7a to join M6
north. M6 to junction 15 (signposted Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle A500).
Follow the A500 dual carriageway for around 4 miles before exiting
onto A53 (s/p Leek A53). Continue on A53 and at roundabout turn
right into Etruria Way. Keep right where the road divides and look
for signs to Port Vale FC to take you over the flyover and towards
the ground.
There is parking at the ground but expect to pay at least £4 and
have a long wait after the game. The 'Discount Giant' supermarket
next to the ground has parking too for a few quid (refundable if you fancy a
bit of shopping too!). Otherwise use side streets off Hamil Road. Check www.rac.co.uk
for specific or more detailed directions. |

Train: Nearest mainline station is Stoke on Trent - 3 miles from
ground. There is also a local station, Longport, approx 1.5 miles from the ground,
with connections from Stoke on Trent but the journey time is around 30 minutes from Stoke
and therefore it usually quiker to get a bus from Stoke station (or close by) to Burlsem town centre.
To reach the ground from Burslem centre, cross Waterloo Road
then turn left into Hamil Road - Vale Park is ahead on the left.
Allow at least five hours total travelling time from High Wycombe.

Steve Guppy - left wing hero at Wycombe during the
'Martin O'Neill Years'. Was originally signed by Jim Kelman in 1989 and
made more than 250 appearances for Wycombe before being 'stolen' by Newcastle
United in August 1994 for a paltry £150,000. Moved onto to Port Vale in
November of the same year for £225,000 without even making a senior appearance
under Kevin Keegan.
Eventually tracked down by his old boss in February 1997 when £850,000 was
required to take him to O'Neill's Leicester City. Has since gone on to make
England Under 21 and B appearances and in October 1999 made his full England
debut against Belgium at The Stadium of Light, Sunderland.

 Chris Herd Australian born defender who played on loan from Aston Villa for both Vale and Wycombe during the
2007/8 season. Scored two goals in 11 apps for Vale in 'League One', before making four apps for Wycombe in 'League Two' later in
the same season.
Mickey Bell Left sided defender who spent the first half of the 2005/6 season at Port Vale following eight seasons with Bristol City. Originally moved to Bristol City from Wycombe in the summer of 1997. Joined
Wycombe from Northampton Town in 1994.
Sam Stockley Moved to Port Vale in the summer of 2008 following two season at Adams Park. Former trainee at Southampton who eventually got his break in pro football after moving to Barnet. Played for Oxford United and Colchester United before he moved to Wycombe in July 2006 under Paul Lambert.
