Wycombe is often described as the 'Breeding Ground of Premiership Managers' thanks mainly to extraordinary success of former gaffer Martin O'Neill, who caused a revolution at Celtic before moving to Aston Villa. John Gregory has did OK at Villa and Lawrie Sanchez made his mark with Northern Ireland before failing to impress at Fulham. Wycombe didn't actually use a Manager until the late 1960's when Brian Lee was appointed. Before then a 'Selection Committee' had picked the side. They met every Monday evening and notified the players by post for the following Saturday's game. |
